Your Privacy & Confidentiality at NORTHERAPY

At NORTHERAPY, your trust is our foundation. We want you to feel completely safe sharing your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in therapy. This page explains, in simple terms, how we keep your information private and secure.

Your Information Stays Private

Everything you share with your therapist — in person, online, or through messages — is confidential. This means it will never be shared with anyone unless you give us your clear, written permission.

When Confidentiality Has Limits

There are a few rare situations where we may need to share information without your consent:

If there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else.

If we are required by law to share information (for example, in a court case or child protection matter).

If this ever happens, we will explain what is happening and why, whenever possible.

How We Protect Your Information

Secure storage: Your records are kept in encrypted, GDPR-compliant systems, stored safely on servers within the EU/EEA.

Limited access: Only your therapist has access to your records.

Protected video sessions: Online therapy sessions use encrypted, secure platforms designed for confidential healthcare communication.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

See what information we have about you.

Ask us to correct anything that’s wrong.

Ask us to delete information (if the law allows).

Change your mind about what you’ve consented to.

How Long We Keep Your Information

Norwegian health regulations require us to keep client records for at least 10 years after your last session, unless the law says otherwise.

If You Have Concerns

If you ever have questions or worries about how your information is handled, please talk to us directly. You can also contact Datatilsynet (The Norwegian Data Protection Authority) for independent advice.
